Dogs Get Win No. 250 for Harris-Champer

St. Augustine, Fla. - Georgia knocked off Marshall today, 6-0, at the UCF/Triple Crown Sports Tournament, giving head coach Lu Harris-Champer her 250th win as a Division I head coach.
Harris-Champer's winning percentage of .733 (250-91) is seventh on the list of winningest active head coaches with at least five years on the Division I level.
The win also set a new Bulldog record for the eighth straight win to open a season. Georgia has won 20 of its last 22 ball games dating back to last year's 12-of-14 run that ended the season.
Later tonight the Bulldogs will try to make it nine straight wins during a scheduled 7 p.m. matchup with Stetson.
In the second inning, a two-RBI single by Michelle Green scored Kristen Bell and Shannon McKeon for an early 2-0 lead over the Herd. In the fourth, Kim Wendland doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a double steal.
The Dogs scored their three final runs in the fifth inning. Michelle Tyree and Wendland had RBI triples in the frame and Nicole Barber added a double.
Wendland has doubled in three consecutive games.
Nichole Urban earned her second win of the year today, throwing seven innings of shutout ball. The sophomore struck out five, allowed only three hits and intentionally walked one for her sixth straight win dating back to last season.
