ATHENS, Ga. < steffi="" legall,="" who="" served="" as="" the="" head="" coach="" at="" marshall="" university="" the="" past="" five="" seasons,="" has="" been="" named="" assistant="" coach="" for="" the="" university="" of="" georgia,="" head="" coach="" mary="" buczek="" announced="" on="" wednesday.="">
While at Marshall, Legall was responsible for leading the Thundering Herd to only its third 20-win season ever and also guided the team to one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in school history when it posted an eight-game improvement in the win column in 1998. During her time at Marshall, Legall became only the third coach in school history to record 50 or more wins.
Legall, who will begin her Bulldog duties March 1, takes over for Cindy Young, who recently resigned to pursue other interests.
"We are obviously thrilled to have someone of Steffi's caliber and knowledge joining our staff," offers Buczek. "Her diversity of experience both as a head coach at the collegiate level and a player at the international level will be an asset to our program."
