CLOSE BUT STILL NO CIGARS WITH SECOND-TIME FOES
The Southeastern Conference has been a very unforgiving organization for Georgia's young Lady Bulldogs this season. After racing to an 11-0 start from November-January - the fourth-best opening in the program's storied history - the Lady Bulldogs' inexperience has been exposed during a rugged SEC slate.
A great deal of the damage en route to a 4-7 league record has been done by the three teams Georgia faces on a home-and-home basis - Florida, Mississippi State and South Carolina.
The Lady Bulldogs are 0-5 against those foes with their final chance to get off the schnide today versus the No. 14 Lady Gators. Georgia has closed the gap between the first and second meetings with State and USC but it is yet to pull out a victory.
The Lady Dogs lost at Starkville by two (84-82) before their excruciating one-point (72-71) setback in Athens. UGA fell to South Carolina by seven in Athens (71-64) before losing by five in Columbia (64-59). The Lady Dogs were down by four with the ball and less than 30 seconds left at USC but could not convert.
Though the final results obviously haven't been what he's looking for, Andy Landers believes the Lady Dogs have played better in their previous two rematches.
