Georgia Wins UCF/Triple Crown Sports Tournament Keeps Winning Streak Alive

St. Augustine, Fla.----Georgia held on to a 1-0 lead to beat Purdue for the championship of the UCF/Triple Crown Sports Tournament here today, raising the club's record to 10-0 and tying the longest winning streak in program history.

Georgia's only run came in the fourth inning when Julie Milner reached on a walk and Kim Wendland drove her home with a two-out single.

Wendland had a big weekend for the Dogs, going 5-for-14 (.357) with three doubles, one triple, five runs and two RBI.

"Kim is just clutch at the plate. She wants to hit and she knows she can do it," said Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer.

Freshman Michelle Green worked all seven innings, earning the first complete-game shutout of her career. She struck out nine and walked four in the process. Earlier this week Green struck out 10 in a win over Bethune-Cookman.
