Athens, Ga. --- Rebecca Rowsey, a 6-3, forward from Chester County High School in Henderson, Tenn., has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball collegiately for the University of Georgia, head coach Andy Landers announced on Wednesday.

"It's been a long time since we've signed someone that had the kind of potential that Rebecca Rowsey has," Landers said. "I'm intrigued by how good she is going to be at the collegiate level. Rowsey is extremely versatile. At 6-3, she handles the ball exceptionally well, runs the floor as well as any 6-3 player in the country and has an excellent shooting touch from three-point range."

Rowsey is rated as the nation's No. 50 prospect by the All Star Girls Basketball Report, as well as the No. 15 post prospect. She was an honorable mention All-America pick by Street & Smith's this fall. Her national stock increased dramatically of late after she earned All-America AAU recognition while playing for the Tennessee Elite during the summer of 2002.
