Georgia travels to Lexington for battle with Cats
Georgia will travel to Lexington this week for a Thursday meet against the Wildcats. The meet will be the SEC opener for both squads and is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs have won 25 straight meets (last loss to UK - 1970-71) against the Wildcats and hold a 40-3 advantage in the series history that began in 1939. The Lady Bulldogs have posted a perfect 11-0 mark against Kentucky in the all-time series that started in 1986. This is the first dual meet in Lexington for Georgia since the 1995-96 season.
Kentucky's only action this season was the annual Blue and White meet and winning a relay meet against Western Kentucky and Transylvania on Oct. 19.
Season opens with pair of wins at UNC
In Chapel Hill last Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs posted a 177-118 win over North Carolina, while the Bulldogs claimed a 164.5-135.5 decision over the Tar Heels in the season opener for both teams.
The women won 12 of the 16 events in the meet, including seven by freshmen. Lauren Gettel, Sarah Poewe and Mary DeScenza were all double winners for the Lady Bulldogs.
The men had a slightly closer meet, claiming top honors in eight events. Robert Margalis won three events while Peter Osborn won two.
