Georgia Off this Weekend
Georgia is off this weekend, next competing at the Southeastern Conference Championships on Monday, Nov. 4 in Gainesville, Fla.
Men 3rd, Women 8th at Auburn
The Georgia men placed third out of 30 teams, while the women placed eighth out of 30 teams last Saturday at the Auburn Invitational. Freshman Lauren Burks and junior Philip Bett led their respective squads again as they both have in every meet this season in which Georgia has competed a full squad.
Every Georgia Runner Posts a Best
On a fast course at Auburn, every Bulldog and Lady Bulldog posted a career and/or season-best at the Auburn Invitational. Every Lady Bulldog posted a career-best time on the women's 5,000 meter course. Every Bulldog but one posted a career-best over the 8,000 meter mens course, with junior Ian Dickinson just recording a season-best time.
Burks named Athlete of the Week
For the first time in two years, a Lady Bulldog earned SEC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors as freshman Lauren Burks was honored last week for her performance at the Furman Invitational on Oct. 12. Burks won the meet, leading the Georgia women to a second place team finish. It was Burks' second individual win of the season.
