ATHENS-------The University of Georgia-Houston football game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, in Athens will be played in accordance with a decision by the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday.
"We are all saddened by the tragic events of Tuesday and the immeasurable repercussions throughout our country," said UGA Athletic Director Vince Dooley. "After much discussion among the presidents, athletic directors and the Southeastern Conference officials, the member institutions of the SEC have unanimously agreed to play the games scheduled for this weekend. I believe we all are in agreement with the statement from the SEC that 'we join the President of the United States and other leaders of our nation by not allowing this event to change our way of life or restrict our freedoms.'"
