ATHENS, Ga. - The top-ranked Georgia men's golf team will begin its quest for the national championship next week against a stellar field at the NCAA East Regional in Williamsburg, Va.

The regional, which will be held May 17-19 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, will feature eight of the nation's Top 20 teams - including No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Georgia Tech and No. 3 Clemson. Also among the 27 teams in the regional are No. 5 Florida, No. 12 North Carolina State, No. 15 East Tennessee State, No. 18 Auburn and No. 20 Duke.

The teams will play 54 holes over the three days and the top 10 teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 30-June 2 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C. The Bulldogs won the NCAA Preview - one of their school-record-tying five titles this season - on the Duke course in September.

"This is what we've been working toward all season," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "We've had a lot of good things happen to us this year, but they won't mean a thing if we don't take care of business at the regional. Our guys all understand that, so they'll be going in focused and ready to play."
