Manuel Diaz's Tip No. 1
When trying to win your service game, utilize a variety of strategies to keep your opponent off balance and achieve success. It is important to: 1) serve and volley some points, 2) be aggressive off the baseline, looking to finish the point at the net and 3) play some other points a bit more steady and conservatively and wait for some unforced errors from your opponent.
If you do the same things over and over again every point, your opponent will get "grooved" and anticipate what you are going to do. I think on the "big" points you need to do what you do best. You need to match your strengths against your opponents weakness.
I have always identified the important points as: 1) the first point of the game, 2) the 15-30 or 30-15 points and 3) the game points. Those will be the points that you should make sure you are executing your best percentage strategy. However, be flexible enough to implement some of the other strategies on the other points to maximize the effectiveness of your primary strategy on the "big" points.
