Warren Gillis, a standout guard at Coastal Carolina from 2011-15, joined the Georgia staff as assistant director of basketball operations in 2026 after serving as a graduate manager for the Bulldogs during the previous two seasons from 2024-26.
Willis’ first two seasons in Athens were extremely successful as Georgia notched back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids for just the fourth time in school history and the first time since the 2001 and 2002 seasons. Last winter, the Bulldogs captured a program-record 22 regular-season victories en route to shatter the season scoring average record by 6.7 points per game (from 82.7 ppg to 89.4 ppg).
Prior to arriving at Georgia, Gillis spent the previous six seasons as an assistant coach and director of player development at Coastal Carolina, his alma mater.
Gillis was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter at Coastal. He helped lead Coastal to back-to-back Big South Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament bids in 2014 and 2015 during his junior and senior years. Gillis was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 Big South Tournament following his 22-point, seven-assist performance against Winthrop in the championship game. Gillis was also selected to the Big South all-tourney team in 2015 and was tabbed second-team All-Big South as both a junior and a senior.
Gillis completed his career as the Chanticleers’ 10th-leading scorer with 1,352 points and among Coastal's all-time leaders ranked No. 2 in games played (125), No. 10 in field goals attempted (1,081), No. 2 in free throws made (305) and No. 6 in steals (164).
Gillis then played professionally in Europe for three years, with stints with the Glasgow Rocks (2015-16) and the Caledonia Gladiators (2016-17) in the United Kingdom and the Kaptenburg Bulls (2017-18) in Austria. Gillis scored a career-high 34 points for Glasgow during a BBL home game against the Leeds Force on March 27, 2016.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Gillis averaged 24.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists in his final season of prep basketball at Rise Academy, which included scoring 31 points against nationally-ranked Findlay Prep, 29 versus Brehm Prep and 27 against Brewster Academy.
Gillis earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Coastal Carolina in 2015 and his master’s in Financial Planning from Georgia in 2026.
Gillis is married to the former Kendra Pulley. The couple has two daughters: Amyiah, born in 2023; and Mila, born in 2026.
