Julia Maenius joined the Georgia Sports Communications staff in July 2024 as an assistant director. She currently serves as the secondary contact for Georgia baseball and the primary contact for the equestrian team, as well as office administrative duties and oversight of the Sports Communications student worker program.

During her tenure at Georgia, Maenius has taken on the role of social media coordinator for baseball and directed media efforts for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Regionals and Super Regionals in Athens. She has also coordinated Georgia’s communication efforts for the MLB Draft beginning in 2023. Maenius was the primary media coordinator for the 2024 MLB Draft where unanimous Player of the Year Charlie Condon was selected third overall by the Colorado Rockies.

Maenius served as a graduate assistant in the Georgia Sports Communications office for two years prior to joining the staff full time. During her tenure, she served as the secondary contact for baseball, women’s basketball and soccer. Throughout her assistantship, she served as co-media coordinator for back-to-back NCAA Soccer Regionals in 2023 and 2024. She traveled with the baseball team to provide comprehensive in-game coverage on all social media platforms and took on the day-to-day responsibilities for women’s basketball.

Before moving to Athens, Maenius worked for four years as a communications assistant in the Athletics Communications office at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). While with the Roadrunners, she was the primary contact for women’s tennis and secondary contact for baseball, softball and women’s basketball while assisting with football responsibilities. At UTSA, she served on the communications staff for the 2022 Conference USA Football Championship, the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional and the 2021 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, which was played entirely in San Antonio with UTSA as the host due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Fredericksburg, Texas native, Maenius earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Communications from UTSA in May 2022. She then earned a Master of Science in Sport Management from Georgia in May 2024.
