John Frierson was named Curator of the ITA Men's Tennis Hall of Fame in February 2015. In addition to overseeing the Hall of Fame's exhibits and operations, Frierson also is a staff writer for the UGA Athletic Association.

Frierson has spent most of the past 16 years as a sportswriter at newspapers throughout the South. He covered UGA athletics for the Athens Banner-Herald from 2003-05, followed by a year covering Alabama and Auburn football and basketball for the Florence (Ala.) TimesDaily. Most recently, Frierson spent seven years covering University of Tennessee at Chattanooga athletics for the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Frierson's connection to college tennis and legendary Georgia coach and Hall of Fame creator Dan Magill started almost from birth because of Magill's close relationship with Frierson's parents, Ann and Joe. Between hours playing tennis on the Henry Feild Stadium courts to serving as a ball boy during numerous NCAA Championships, Frierson had covered about every square inch of Georgia's tennis courts before he was a teenager.

Frierson's brother, Jack (1989-92), played tennis for Georgia and was the assistant coach on the 1999 national championship team.

An Athens native that grew up about 200 yards from the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, Frierson received a bachelor's degree in Southern Studies from Ole Miss in 1999.
