Christie Purks currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management. In her current role, her responsibilities include managing event plans and operations for football, men’s basketball and gymnastics events. Christie has also served as the championship director for the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship in 2001 & 2008, the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship and several SEC and NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which have all been hosted on campus.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Christie is a graduate of the University of Georgia where she earned an ABJ in public relations and a master’s degree in sports administration.
Christie served as the chair of the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Committee from 2006-2008. She was also selected as the Athletic Association Employee of the Year in 2008.
Before joining the Athletic Association, Christie worked at the University’s Visitors Center.
