In his first season, Tanaskovic oversaw one of the greatest goalkeeper seasons in program history by Jordan Brown, who was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Fourth Team and Second Team All-SEC. Brown played every minute of the season, tallying 120 saves, the second-most in program history, while also ranking second all-time in saves per match (5.71) and save percentage (.845). She set a new career high with 14 saves at No. 1 Florida State, helping the Bulldogs tie the Seminoles, 1-1, for the first result against a top-ranked team in program history. The Bulldogs finished seventh in the SEC standings and earned an NCAA Tournament home match for the third-consecutive season, a program first.
In his second season, he helped lead the 2025 Bulldogs to a 10-5-6 record and third-place finish in the SEC regular season standings. Led by First Team All-American Summer Denigan, only the second First Team honoree in program history, the Bulldogs earned their first-ever victory over North Carolina and posted two separate five-match unbeaten streaks. Denigan was joined on the All-SEC Team by midfielder Kiera Staude and defender Cate Hardin, while rookies Hannah Folliard and Mya Townes received SEC All-Freshman honors. Despite fielding one of the nation's youngest rosters, the squad reached the SEC Tournament semifinals for the third time in four seasons and earned an NCAA Tournament home seed for a program-best fourth-straight season. Folliard, in particular, overtook the starting goalkeeper role at age 17 and tallied 46 saves and five solo shutouts in 21 starts. She helped the Bulldogs post a four-match shutout streak and finished the season ranked 27th in TopDrawerSoccer's Postseason Freshman rankings.
Tanaskovic joined Georgia after spending the last five seasons as the assistant coach for the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL. In his role, he oversaw goalkeepers and managed the team's set pieces and opponent scouting. He also served as the interim head coach during the 2021-22 offseason, leading the team's offseason roster management and preparation for the 2022 regular season. During his time in Chicago, the club reached the postseason four times, including appearances in the 2019, 2021, and 2022 NWSL Championship and a runner-up finish in the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup. In his last season, Red Stars keeper Alyssa Naeher ranked third in the league with 80 saves.
In addition to his work with the Red Stars, Tanaskovic has worked with the U.S. Soccer Federation since 2013, serving for over a decade as a women's national team scout based in Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Chicago. He recently helped the U.S. Women’s National Team win Concacaf W Gold Cup and SheBelieves Cup titles in 2024, preceded by numerous coaching appearances in WNT friendlies. In his tenure with the USSF, he also helped squads win the U17 Four Nations Cup and Concacaf U17 titles in 2025, a bronze medal at the 2024 U20 World Cup, and the 2019 Nordic Cup championship.
Tanaskovic also served as goalkeepers coach for U.S. U-23 National Team, worked at camps for the U17, U18, U19, U23, and senior levels, and served as the ODP South Region Goalkeeping Director. He has earned NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 1 and 2 diplomas and holds USSF Coach Educator, C Goalkeeping, B Coaching, and C Coaching licenses. He also holds a UEFA B Coaching license and is a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
Prior to Chicago, Tanaskovic served two seasons as an assistant coach at Iowa, where his team recorded 14 shutouts and 17 wins as the program returned to the Big Ten Tournament. Before Iowa, he spent two seasons at Louisville as an assistant, tallying 15 wins and helping Taylor Bucklin earn All-ACC honors. He also coached for two seasons at Columbus State, guiding the team to two conference tournament titles and the NCAA DII Elite Eight in 2014. His collegiate coaching career began with the Emmanuel College men’s program in 2012. He also worked with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL W-League, CFC Red Star (Columbus, Ga.), Lanier Soccer Association, NGSA Rapids, and Habersham Central High School.
Tanaskovic played collegiately at North Georgia, earning All-Peach Belt Conference honors in his final three seasons. He left UNG ranked seventh all-time in conference history with a 0.91 career goals against average, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Leadership.
Prior to North Georgia, he played for FC Kolubara, FC Rad, and various semi-professional teams in his native Serbia. He also coached at FC Red Star (formerly ZFK LASK), serving as an assistant and goalkeeper coach from 2004-07.
