Brenna Brooks has been named an assistant coach on Cécile Canqueteau-Landi’s staff for the upcoming 2027 season.

“I am very excited to join the coaching staff at Georgia gymnastics,” Brooks said. “I look forward to bringing my enthusiasm, technical coaching, personalized choreography, and sincere dedication to enhancing the student-athlete experience. I have great respect for Cécile’s vision for the program, along with the rich history Georgia gymnastics has developed, and I am eager to help foster a culture that balances championship expectations and passion for the sport. Go Dawgs!”

“I’m excited to welcome Brenna to our staff,” Canqueteau-Landi said. “I’ve known her since her days training and competing in Texas, and it’s been incredible to watch her grow into a driven young woman with big dreams and goals. I’m looking forward to the impact she’ll have and all the great things she’ll bring to our program.”

Brooks comes to Athens by way of the University of Iowa, where she was an assistant for the Hawkeyes for two seasons. She helped lead the Hawkeyes to back-to-back top-25 finishes in 2025 and 2026.

In 2026, Iowa finished the season 17th nationally with a 196.473 NQS. The Hawkeyes finished fourth in the Big Ten in the regular season and fifth at the Big Ten Championships. Iowa finished in the top 25 in every event and extended its streak to 26 consecutive seasons with an NCAA Regional appearance (team or individual).

Sophomore Aurélie Tran finished the season ranked 13th nationally in the all-around and fifth in the Big Ten. She also ranked 15th nationally and third in the conference on bars. Tran earned WCGA Regular Season Second-Team All-America honors on bars and in the all-around. She won a share of the Big Ten bars title with a 9.950, becoming the first Hawkeye to win the event since 2003, and tied for second on uneven bars at the NCAA National Championships with a 9.9750, the highest bars score by a Hawkeye at the NCAA Championships. Tran’s runner-up performance tied the individual result in program history at the national meet.

In her first season at Iowa, Brooks helped guide the Hawkeyes to a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and the regular season after being picked to finish 10th. The Hawkeyes broke 197.00 for the first time since 2021 (197.025 vs. Iowa State), the fourth-highest score in program history. Brooks, along with assistant coaches Kyle Grable and Craig Ballard, was named Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Assistant Coaches of the Year for the North Central region.

Brooks oversaw beam for the season. The Hawkeyes began NCAAs ranked 19th nationally on beam that season and captured 10 event titles on beam in 2025. The Hawkeyes scored a 49.425 on beam against Iowa State, tying the program’s second-highest score in history on the event.

Tran earned First Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman Team honors in 2025. Tran (bars) and Haley Tyson (floor) were named to the Big Ten All-Championship Team.

Brooks joined the Iowa staff from Seattle, where she was an assistant coach at Washington for one season after being a five-year student-athlete. During the 2024 season, she helped the Huskies to top-20 rankings for all but one week of the season.

As a Husky, Brooks was named to the Pac-12 Gymnastics Preseason Watch List in her fifth year. She competed on vault, bars, and beam in every meet during her final season, where she earned a career-high 9.850 five times on vault. She also earned a season-high 9.850 on bars on two occasions, and a career-best 9.950 on beam at home against Stanford (Feb. 20, 2023).

Brooks is a three-time Pac-12 academic honor roll member, earning the award during the 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons.

Brooks is a native of Allen, Texas, and earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood and family studies while at Washington.
