Scott Sinclair

Scott Sinclair was named Director of Strength and Conditioning on January 6, 2016, after serving three years in the same position at Marshall University.

He has been part of an integral part of the coaching and support staff that led the Bulldogs to the College Football Playoff National Championship back-to-back during the 2021-22 seasons. During his tenure at UGA, the Bulldogs have also won three Southeastern Conference titles (2017, ’22, ‘24), played in four other SEC Championship Games and earned eight consecutive appearances in a New Year’s Six Bowl game. The 2017 ‘Dogs also played in the CFP national championship game.

Under Sinclair and his staff’s training, Georgia has stressed the importance of the Bulldogs finishing a game as strong as they start a contest.  The Bulldogs have posted five seasons with at least 12 wins since Sinclair’s arrival, including the record-breaking 15-0 campaign to win their second straight national championship.  In 2024, Georgia outscored its opponents by 66 points in the final period and held those opponents to the lowest cumulative quarter total (60) for the year.

Sixty-three Bulldogs have been selected in the NFL Draft since the 2017 season, including Travon Walker going as the first pick in the 2022 draft and 16 other first round selections.  In addition, Sinclair has helped develop winners of the 2017 (Roquan Smith), 2021 (Nakobe Dean) and 2024 (Jalon Walker) Butkus Award, 2021 Chuck Bednarik Award (Jordan Davis), 2022-23 John Mackey Award (Brock Bowers), 2019 Lou Groza Award (Rodrigo Blankenship), 2021 Outland Trophy (Davis), 2018 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (Deandre Baker) and 2022 Manning Award (Stetson Bennett).

Sinclair joined the Marshall program in January 2013, working with both football and track and field teams. He came to Marshall after nine years as an associate director of strength and conditioning at UCF, where he worked with the football, baseball and track & field programs.

In May 2012, Sinclair was awarded the highest honor in his field when he was certified as a master strength and conditioning coach (MSCC) at the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association’s national conference. The title of master strength and conditioning coach represents professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise as well as longevity in the field. He is also CPR/AED certified.

Sinclair served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the football program at Georgia Tech from 2001-03. From 1999-2001, he worked as a strength coach in the Wake Forest athletic department.

A native of Rockingham, N.C., he earned his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Guilford College in 1999. Sinclair, a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, received a master’s degree in physical education from UCF in 2006.
