Jordan Barber, a native of Baltimore, Md., arrived in Athens in January 2022 after a brief stint as the head strength and conditioning coach at Grambling State University where he was responsible for all of the Tiger sports. He now serves as the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Bulldogs.
Barber’s first season with Georgia saw the team win the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff (CFP) Semifinal Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl en route to the Bulldogs’ second consecutive National Championship.
Before his stop in Louisiana, Barber spent three years (2019-2021) at the University of Miami where he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football. During his stay, the Hurricane football team was bowl eligible all three years. The 2019 squad participated in the Independence Bowl while the 2020 team played in the Cheez-It Bowl. Miami was unable to play in the 2021 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl because of COVID-19 protocols.
At Miami, Barber was responsible for developing the winter mat drill program and the offseason competition point system. Barber also assisted the team physical therapist with the “Return to Play” program for injured football student-athletes.
Barber worked at Temple University prior to his time with Miami where he served an assistant strength and conditioning coach for two years (2017-2018). The Owls played in two bowl games - the 2017 Gasparilla Bowl and the 2018 Independence Bowl – during his time with the program.
Before working at Temple, Barber worked with the University of Maryland football team that made an appearance in the 2016 Quick Lane Bowl. Barber also worked with Olympic sports at Maryland before helping guide the football program while interning.
Barber started his career in strength and conditioning by interning at his alma mater Towson University from 2015-16.
Barber graduated from Towson in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.
