The University of Georgia Athletic Association has teamed up with Georgia Power to feature individuals and organizations who are making a positive impact in our communities.

2021 Season

11/20/21 - Gold Star Families
The University of Georgia Athletic Association and Georgia Power have teamed up to celebrate the Power of the Human Spirit. Today’s honorees are Gold Star Families. Gold Star Families are widows, widowers, parents and next of kin of the United States Armed Forces members killed in combat operations. Through the Hope for Warriors program, these families are offered programming to help restore a sense of family and hope through connection to community resources. Please join us in recognizing four families who had loved ones killed in action in Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan. Please welcome the families of Army Staff Sergeant Alex French IV, Army Specialist Kelly Mixon, Army Sergeant First Class John Beale and Army Master Sergeant Danial Adams. Thank you to the French, Mixon, Beale and Adams families for your sacrifice for our freedoms.

11/6/21 - Dream on 3
This week, we recognize Dream on 3, a non-profit organization that creates sports-themed experiences for those, ages 5-21, who are living with a chronic illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities or life-altering conditions.

10/2/21 - UGA Miracle
For this week’s Power Profile presented by Georgia Power, we recognize UGA Miracle, a student-run philanthropic organization that benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. In honor of their continuing efforts to return normal and happiness back to those families who need it most, Georgia Power is proud to support UGA Miracle.

9/18/21 - Camp Sunshine
For this week’s Power Profile presented by Georgia Power, we recognize Jocelyn Held, a childhood cancer survivor and a Camp Sunshine participant who helped power the Dawgs on to victory! Georgia Power is proud to support Camp Sunshine and the amazing work they do to improve the lives of children battling cancer.

9/12/21 - Col. Maurice Barnett
For this week’s Power Profile presented by Georgia Power, we recognize Col. Maurice Barnett, who swore in new UGA Army ROTC cadets on Friday. In recognition of their commitment to developing outstanding future leaders, Georgia Power is proud to support the UGA Army ROTC program.

3/3/21 UGA Department of Social Work
For this week’s Power Profile presented by Georgia Power, we recognize two dedicated members of the University of Georgia Department of Social Work; Lemuel LaRoche and Llewellyn Cornelius. In recognition of their efforts, Georgia Power is making a donation to the Center for Social Justice.

2/3/21 Athens-Clark County Solid Waste Department
This week, we thank three Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department workers for their commitment to keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean. Georgia Power will be making a donation to each of these individuals in recognition of their powerful impact on our community!

12/22/20 Food 2 Kids
This week, we recognize Food 2 Kids, a Food Bank of Northeast Georgia Program that alleviates food insecurity for students in local communities. Georgia Power is donating $500 to Food 2 Kids in recognition of their continuing efforts to eliminate childhood hunger.

11/24 Oconee County Middle School Teacher Chris Janssen
For this week’s Power Profile, we recognize Oconee County Middle School teacher Chris Janssen. In honor of his continuing commitment to education, Georgia Power is donating $500 to Mr. Janssen’s classroom!

11/17 Georgia Power Response Workers
For this week’s Power Profile, we recognize over 4,000 Georgia Power personnel who helped restore power to more than 800,000 Georgia customers impacted by Hurricane Zeta. Georgia Power is donating $500 to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia in recognition of these dedicated response teams!

10/13 UGA Student Veterans Resource Center
For this week’s Power Profile, we recognize the UGA Student Veterans Resource Center. In honor of their continuing commitment to help student veterans achieve their academic goals, Georgia Power is donating $500 to the SVRC!

10/6/20 Hodge Rivers
For this week’s Power Profile, we recognize Hodge Rivers, a participant at Camp Sunshine. In honor of their continuing commitment to help the lives of children battling cancer, Georgia Power is donating $500 to Camp Sunshine!

5/21/20 SMAH
Sewing Masks for Area Hospitals – Atlanta. In response to the COVID-19 threat, this group has produced and delivered 45,000 masks to over 100 healthcare facilities in the Southeast.

5/15/20 Leslie Boozer
Former Georgia Bulldogs Track & Field and Cross Country distance runner Leslie Boozer. Leslie is now helping critical COVID-19 patients at Rose Medical Center in Denver.

5/8/20 Lauren English
Former UGA Swimming and Diving captain Lauren English. Lauren is a clinical nurse fighting the COVID-19 battle at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
