2008 Women's Tennis Season Review Despite losing its Nos. 1 and 5 singles players off the 2007 SEC championship squad, Georgia hardly missed a beat in 2008, racking up 22 wins and another SEC Tournament title. The Bulldogs earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and reached the Round of 16 for the ninth time in 10 years. Georgia finished ranked in the top 10 for the 20th time in program history, all in the Jeff Wallace era while maintaining a top 10 ranking throughout the season. The Bulldogs twice reached the No. 2 spot in the polls.Another highlight of the 2008 season was head coach Jeff Wallace reaching the 500 career win mark. With a 500-124 record in 23 years at the helm of the Bulldogs, Wallace is now tied with former baseball coach Steve Webber for fourth place on the all-time Georgia wins list. Individually, freshman Cameron Ellis, who played at No. 5, led the Bulldogs with 37 wins including 21 dual match wins. Sophomore Naoko Ueshima was right behind with 36 wins. Ueshima etched her name in the Georgia record books in 2008 With 33 doubles wins, the Hyogo, Japan, native tied former Bulldog Shadisha Robinson for the most doubles victories in one season with 33. Ueshima finished with 69 combined singles and doubles wins this season (36 singles, 33 doubles), tying the Georgia record set by Agate Cioroch in 2002.  Four Bulldogs finished the season ranked in the ITA top 125. Yvette Hyndman was Georgia's highest ranked player at No. 42 followed by Kelley Hyndman at No. 60, Ueshima at No. 84 and Monika Dancevic at No. 109. In doubles, the tandem of Kelley Hyndman and Yvette Hyndman was No. 36 while Kelley Hyndman and Monika Dancevic were No. 47.
