ATHENS, Ga. – Despite a halftime lead, the University of Georgia soccer team closed out its three-match homestand with a 3-1 loss to No. 24 Oklahoma Friday evening before 2,112 spectators at the Turner Soccer Complex.

The Georgia (3-3-3, 0-1-1 SEC) attack once again started strong, scoring a first half goal for the eighth consecutive match. Graduate forward Emma Pettersen netted her third goal of the season in the 10^th minute into the bottom right corner off an assist from junior midfielder Kieryn Jeter. The Bulldogs would continue to hold the one-goal lead for nearly 50 minutes of match play.
Oklahoma (8-0-2, 2-0-0 SEC) equalized in the 57^th minute as Kate McCallister's header slipped past Georgia keeper Hannah Folliard. McCallister's goal was set up by a long cross from Elle Canty.
Canty put the Sooners ahead in the 66^th minute with a strike that hit off the left post into the goal. The clinching goal came in the 74^th minute as Sophie Morrin headed in a free kick from Paige Califf.
The Sooners outshot the Bulldogs, 11-8, although both teams tallied three shots on goal. Senior midfielder Kiera Staude led the Bulldogs with two shots.

"This was a frustrating one. This was a disappointing one. I thought we started the game really well. We had a nice control of the game, a nice rhythm. Along the way, we lost some of our nerve. They grew into the game and got better, and we couldn't grab the momentum back and we paid for it. Tough, tough loss, but to a good team. They've been able to score goals against many, many teams and they're doing well. This is another night in the SEC, and we've got to be better."

On the atmosphere at Turner…
"If we nothing else, the fans show up for us, and tonight was extra special to have a moment like this, especially on a road football weekend. It's massive for us. Every time they're here, they give us so much energy, so much momentum, and they make it a difficult place to play. As much as we wanted to give them the result, we're pleased they showed up for us, and we tried to give the effort worthy of our fans."
