ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Georgia soccer team withstood a furious second half rally from Minnesota (1-0-1) to carry home a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon before 559 spectators at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.

Georgia (0-0-2) played to a second-consecutive draw despite taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. Following an appeal by head coach Keidane McAlpine, a tackle of graduate forward Emma Pettersen by Minnesota goalkeeper Sarah Martin was deemed worthy of a penalty kick following video review. Fifth-year midfielder Sage Glover stepped up to the spot and calmly scored the Bulldogs' first goal of the season and the first of her Georgia career.
The Bulldogs had previously earned a chance to score in the 29^th minute when senior midfielder Honoka Hamano earned a free kick, but her low attempt was saved by Martin. For the first half, Georgia outshot Minnesota by a 3-2 margin.
In the second half, the Golden Gophers picked up the intensity, outshooting the Bulldogs, 15-3, en route to a 17-6 advantage for the match. The Gophers eventually inched toward the net on succeeding possessions before Davy Mokelke scored in the 62^nd minute off an assist by Savannah Enriquez.
The Gophers' attack continued to press as the half wore on, but they were repeatedly stifled by graduate goalkeeper Jordan Brown, who completed her return from injury to start her first match since the 2024 NCAA Tournament First Round. Brown eventually finished the afternoon with seven saves, her most since posting the same number against Arkansas in the 2024 SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
Georgia was able to get off a pair of shots in the final five minutes of play, but both were saved by Martin to ensure the draw.
Hamano led the Bulldogs with two shots, while four additional Bulldogs each posted one. Sophomore defender Maddy Herniter joined Brown in playing a full 90 minutes, her second-consecutive full match outing.
