2026 Georgia Baseball: A Season To Remember

Bulldogs Finish No. 3 In Final Rankings

ATHENS, GA.-----The 2026 University of Georgia baseball team posted one of the finest seasons in program history with several notable team and individual accolades and a consensus national ranking of No. 3 in the final top 25 polls.
 
The Bulldogs, led by Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson, posted a 53-14 record that featured 39 games against Southeastern Conference teams, going 30-9 in those contests. Georgia finished tied for third at the College World Series after winning the SEC regular season and tournament titles plus sweeping through a regional and super regional in Athens at Foley Field.
 
Team
  • Program record 53 wins was the second most victories of any NCAA Division 1 team in 2026
  • Consensus final No. 3 ranking in the top 25 polls, the highest since 2008 (No. 2); Peaked at No. 1
  • Seventh trip to the College World Series and its first and best finish since 2008 
  • Tied for third at the College World Series with a 2-2 mark, both wins over No. 6 Texas 
  • Went 7-2 in the NCAA Tournament and its 6-0 start in the NCAA postseason was the best in school history
  • Sixth Super Regional appearance, fifth time to win it including fourth at Foley Field
  • 16th Regional appearance, eighth time to win it including sixth at Foley Field
  • SEC Tournament Champion, the first one in school history
  • SEC Regular Season Champion with school record 23-7 league mark, first SEC title since 2008, 8th overall
  • First school in SEC history to win all five of its SEC road series against top 25 opponents (beat No. 4 Auburn, swept No. 5 Miss. State, beat No. 14 Arkansas, No. 17 Ole Miss and No. 21 Texas A&M)
  • Clinched SEC title in week nine of league play and went on to post first-ever sweep of LSU
  • School record and NCAA-best 179 home runs; School record 611 Runs, 583 RBI, 1,405 Total Bases 
  • School record 700 strikeouts by the pitching staff (ranked 2nd most in NCAA in 2026)
  • With Daniel Jackson winning the SEC Triple Crown, Georgia joined Miss. State as the only schools to have a player accomplish that feat (Rafael Palmeiro in 1984 and Brent Rooker in 2017)
  • With Daniel Jackson winning the SEC batting title (.379), Georgia joined Tennessee (1974-76) and Auburn (1988-90) as the only schools to have the SEC batting champion three straight years (Charlie Condon, .433 in 2024 and Ryland Zaborowski, .370 in 2025)
