ATHENS, Ga. — Third-ranked Georgia defeated Liberty 6-2 on Saturday in front of a sold out Foley Field to advance to the NCAA Athens Regional Final.

Junior right-hander Dylan Vigue got the start on the mound for Georgia. Senior Matt Scott (7-0) relieved Vigue in the second, allowing one hit in five scoreless innings, to earn his seventh win on the year. Liberty's Bradley Zayac (9-1) received the loss.
Daniel Jackson launched a two-run blast in the first, his 29th of the season, the second-most home runs in a single season in Georgia history.
Liberty plated their sole two runs in the bottom of the first.
With one out in the third inning, Kenny Ishikawa added to the home run parade, followed by Ryan Wynn, marking the 13th time this season that Georgia has hit back-to-back home runs.

"I thought what Matt [Scott] did today was elite. It's what big-time players do. Matt came in the game, things were a little sideways. There was some momentum leaving our side. Sometimes as a coach, you have to go out there and make a change. We did. Our team believes in Matt so much. We just do. He believes in himself. You want guys in the game when you need to stop momentum like Matt. I thought our defense today — I mean, Kolby Branch is an elite, Gold Glove shortstop caliber player. [He] made play after play out there for us to stop some momentum. It's easy to talk about [Daniel] Jackson there in the first, getting you off to a good start. I thought he got off a really good swing. I thought Liberty's starter [Bradley Zayac] coming into this game was 9-0. Threw the ball fine, really thought [Liberty LHP Josh Swink] was good too today. After that, Jackson, [Rylan] Lujo, Kenny [Ishikawa], Ryan Wynn, all just getting off really good swings. On Ryan Wynn…
"We've always known that Ryan [Wynn] can get it done and come up in big spots. He's a great player. His mindset when he's not playing is wonderful. It's one of the reasons I think that we're a good ball club is because when you have guys like Ryan who gets in the game, plays well and then goes back to the plan. Then gets in the game again and keeps playing, his head is in a great spot. He's talking to teammates and staying in the dugout, and that's what everybody is looking for. All the people that are on the bench and looking at that guy and saying 'Man, that's a great example.'"

On staying prepared to go on the mound …

"It's about staying ready, not getting ready. I try to stay ready from the first pitch to the last because you never know when you're going in. Just staying in the dugout and making sure your arms are lose and going down to the bullpen. You also have to be able to get hot pretty quickly at times. That also comes with a lot of preparation and confidence that you may not feel physically ready, but eventually you're ready to go and compete."

Boston College came back strong in game three of the NCAA Athens Regional, defeating Long Island 8-4 in the elimination game.

Boston College's Tyler Mudd (5-4) got the start on the mound for the Eagles, allowing four runs off seven hits in 7.1 innings of work while tallying 10 strikeouts to earn his fifth win of the year. Long Island's Justin DeCastro (7-3) received the loss.
In the top of the first, Boston College's Nick Wang singled to center field to bring in Julio Solier for the first run of the game.
After a three-run second inning for the Eagles, a bases loaded hit-by-pitch to Solier brought in Kyle Wolff. Later in the inning, Ty Mainolfi singled to left to bring in two more runs.
