The nation's most prolific home run factory had gone uncharacteristically quiet. For a program that builds part of its identity on the long ball, a 32-inning power drought for the Georgia baseball team felt less like a slump and more like a glitch.

After being held homer-less in three games against Florida over the weekend, the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon at Foley Field once again started feeding the trees beyond the outfield wall, turning a midweek grind against East Tennessee State into a definitive statement of offensive depth. Georgia got key home runs from Henry Allen and Michael O'Shaughnessy over the final few innings to put away the Bucs in a 12-10 win.

Georgia has now homered at least once in 34 of its 38 games this season, with multiple homers in 29 of those games. The Gators, who have one of the best starting rotations in the SEC, held the Bulldogs without a home run during last weekend's three-game series and handed Georgia its first series loss, 2-1, in conference play.

On Tuesday, in an offensive-heavy game with the Buccaneers that featured 22 hits and 22 runs, the tension peaked in the middle frames.

After the Buccaneers narrowed the gap to a single run, 7-6, in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run blast of their own, Bulldog sophomore Henry Allen stepped into the box in the bottom half and delivered a big-time, 418-foot three-run home run to extend the lead. It was his 11th homer of the season.

"It's good to get back on track with the long ball, because that's a huge part of our game," Allen said. "Hopefully, more will come after that."

More was indeed on the way, courtesy of O'Shaughnessy. After ETSU put up a second consecutive three-spot in the sixth to keep things tight, "Shaggy" led off the bottom of the seventh with the 100th home run of the season for Georgia, a moonshot to right-center, providing a critical insurance run in a game that featured at least one run scored in seven of the nine innings. It was O'Shaughnessy's 10th blast of the season, giving the Bulldogs six players with 10 or more homers, led by Daniel Jackson's 16.

The 12-10 victory, which also featured three doubles and RBIs from seven different players — including three each from Allen and Bryce Calloway — ought to get the bats going before the Bulldogs start a grueling seven-game road swing against three ranked opponents. It all begins this Friday with a trip to Fayetteville to face No. 16 Arkansas, followed by the Spring Break Classic to benefit Children's Healthcare of Atlanta against No. 2 Georgia Tech next Tuesday, and then a weekend set at No. 25 Ole Miss.

Heading into the ETSU game, Georgia led the nation with 98 home runs, 20 more than any other team in the country. The Bulldogs were second in the country in slugging percentage at .623, behind only Georgia Tech (.630), Georgia was also tied for second in runs scored (352) with Texas Tech.
