March 28, 2026 | Women's Golf

ATHENS, Ga. — Freshman Trinity Beth birdied five of her last six holes en route to a 6-under 66 in the opening round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the UGA Golf Course on Saturday. Beth's score was the best ever by a Georgia golfer in the 54-year history of the tournament.

Five Fast Facts:
• Georgia carded a 5-over 293 and is in second place in the 16-team field, just three shots behind High Point.
• The Bulldogs also counted a 1-over 73 from freshman Gabriella Albert and a pair of 77s from sophomore Sydney Givens and redshirt junior Karoline Tuttle.
• Beth, a mid-year enrollee who joined the Bulldogs in January, is the individual leader by two strokes over Anna Howerton of High Point. In addition for Georgia, Albert is tied for 8th; Maria Eidhagen Harrouch, who is competing individually and shot 76, is 28th; Givens and Tuttle are tied for 37th; and Celine Brovold Sanne, who carded a 79, is 58th.

• Beth began her day with a bogey on No. 1 but regained that stroke with a birdie at No. 2. She finished the front nine going birdie-bogey-birdie to turn at 1-under. After a trio of pars, Beth birdied No. 13, No. 14, No. 16, No. 17 and No. 18 to complete her historic loop.

Key Quotes:
Head Coach Erika Brennan:
On the team's performance:
"The conditions were tough today and the hole locations were tough too. I thought that our team hung in there pretty good. I think back half of the lineup, we need a little more. But to be in second place and feel like that we've still got a chance to go win this thing is incredible. That's the plan."

On Trinity Beth's record-setting round:
"Trinity plays fearless golf, and I think that's what's so special about her. She has no idea that she's a first-semester freshman and she has just come in and hit the ground running. Her ball striking is super good and when she gets that ball rolling with that putter, it gets real hot real quick."

Trinity Beth:
On her round overall:
"Honestly, this is probably one of the best rounds I've ever played if not the best. I feel like these out here really tough today. This is my fifth college tournament, but it still feels very new so just being able to perform that well at our home event was really special."

On finishing with birdies on five or her last six holes:
"I didn't realize it was five out of six until I finished, but I've done this in the past where I finish very strong with birdies in the last nine holes and I feel like just once you get it going it just keeps on going and it's hard to stop it."

On setting the Georgia record for best round in the Liz Murphey:
"To know all the girls who have come through here and to be able to put my name beside theirs and to have the best round is really, really special."

Up Next:
Georgia will be paired with High Point and Rutgers for Sunday's second round. The Bulldogs, Panthers and Scarlet will tee off from No. 1 between 8:30-9:06 am ET. Admission to the tournament is free. Live scoring is available here.
