Bulldogs Build Ten-Shot Lead After Round One of the Linger Longer Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia men's golf team got off to a hot start at the Linger Longer Invitational, sitting in first at 21-under par after round one. 

FAST FACTS:

  • Junior Grayson Wood and sophomore Matt Maloney sit first and second, respectively, at the end of today's round. Both golfers tallied seven birdies, with Wood shooting a bogey-free 65 to hold the solo lead.

  • Senior Carter Loflin isn't far behind his two teammates at the top, as he sits in fifth following the first 18 holes. He used four birdies on the back nine to propel him to 5-under par on the day.

  • After a consistent 3-under par day, freshman JD Culbreth sits T13 with nine other players, all just four shots off the leader.

  • As a team, the Bulldogs are leading the way on par fours, shooting 9-under par, and have the most birdies with 28. 

  • Georgia leads by ten shots over Mercer and Ohio State, who are tied at 11-under par. Alabama and Vanderbilt are close behind them at 10-under par.

Wood will be the first off the tee for the Bulldogs at 10:00 AM EST tomorrow for round two.
