Bulldogs Earn Three Bronzes at SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams picked up a trio of bronze medals Thursday evening at the 2026 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships at the University of Tennessee Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
 
Following four days of competition, the Georgia men rank fourth overall with 496 points, while the Bulldog women sit in eighth place with 342 points.

  • Men's 100y Butterfly – Graduate Luca Urlando earned his second medal of the week with a third-place finish of 44.16, the seventh-fastest time in program history. Senior Ruard van Renen placed 13th with an NCAA cut time of 45.51, while fellow senior Roman Valdez took 19th with a personal-best time of 46.26, his second PB of the day. In prelims, freshmen Tyler Grafmiller (47.95) and Jayson Ross (48.30) posted new personal-best times.
  • Women's 200y Freestyle – Freshman Kennedi Dobson earned the bronze medal with an NCAA time of 1:42.20, finishing just one-hundredth off her personal best time. Sophomore Marie Landreneau reached the 'A' final for the second straight year, finishing seventh with an NCAA time of 1:44.06. Senior Shea Furse placed 11th with an NCAA time of 1:45.13, while fellow senior Emma Norton took 19th at 1:45.79.
  • Men's 400y IM – Junior Drew Hitchcock reached his second podium as he finished third with a new personal-best time of 3:39.16, remaining the sixth-fastest performer in program history. Senior Cale Martter placed fifth with a PB of 3:40.33, becoming the eighth-fastest performer. In prelims, Martter moved into 10th all-time with a time of 3:41.04. Freshman Sean Green placed 12th with a personal-best NCAA cut of 3:42.38, followed by fellow freshman Finn Hammer in 13th place at 3:43.81.
  • Women's 400y IM – Senior Ieva Maluka finished fifth with an NCAA cut time of 4:07.52, following a fourth-place time of 4:08.69 in prelims. Junior Elizabeth Tilt placed 31st with a time of 4:19.54, followed by freshman Clarke Neace in 32nd at 4:20.37.
  • Men's 200y Freestyle – Junior Tomas Koski took fifth in a crowded finish, posting an NCAA cut time of 1:31.75. Freshman Kris Mihaylov finished 15th with a time of 1:34.00. In the morning session, Mihaylov became the No. 8 performer in program history with a personal-best NCAA time of 1:33.38.
  • Men's 400y Medley Relay – Van Renen, sophomore Elliot Woodburn, Urlando, and Koski finished fifth with an A-cut time of 3:03.11, the fourth-fastest in program history. Van Renen led off with a split of 44.76, while Koski closed at 42.16.
  • Women's 400y Medley Relay – Dobson, sophomore Charlotte Headland, senior Olivia Della Torre, and sophomore Katie Belle Sikes placed eighth with a season-best time of 3:32.97. Dobson led off with a personal-best 100y backstroke of 52.43, becoming the ninth-fastest performer in program history. Sikes closed with a season-best anchor split of 48.12.
  • Women's 100y Butterfly – Freshman Hayden Hollingsworth tied for first alternate in prelims with a time of 53.26, followed by Della Torre in 31st place at 53.26. Freshman Izzy Beu placed 40th with a time of 53.80.
  • Women's 3-meter – Junior Michelle Cummo finished 37th overall with a score of 208.45. Cummo's best mark of 40.80 came in the second round.
