Smith Captures SEC Specialist of the Week Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Georgia gymnast Lily Smith has been named the Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
The award is Smith's first SEC Specialist of the Week award in her career. She was a five-time Freshman of the Week in 2024.
Lily Smith delivered a strong performance for the Bulldogs on Saturday at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The GymDogs posted a 197.650 to defeat No. 10 Stanford (196.400), No. 20 Cal (196.875), and Air Force (195.750), marking the team's second-highest score of the season and its highest road score.
The highlight of Smith's weekend came on floor, where she anchored the lineup with a 9.975 to win the event title. The junior has recorded scores of 9.950 or higher on floor in all seven of Georgia's meets this season. Saturday's routine marked Smith's 14th career score of 9.950 or better on the event.
The Limerick, Pennsylvania native also captured the bars title with a 9.950 to match her season high, leading the GymDogs to a season-best 49.475 on the apparatus. Smith added a 9.925 on beam to open the meet, contributing to Georgia's 49.475 on the event and placing second individually.
This is Georgia's second SEC weekly honor of the season. CaMarah Williams was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 3.
No. 6 Georgia Gymnastics returns to Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 20, to host the No. 4 Florida Gators. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. and will air on SEC Network. Friday's meet will be the 'GymDogs Go Country' meet. The first 500 UGA students and 250 kids, 12 and under, will receive a cowboy hat.
Smith ranks second nationally on floor with an NQS score of 9.960 and third on bars with a 9.915 on the event.
