Dilek Named SEC Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga.— Georgia freshman Deniz Dilek was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after an impressive performance, recording three ranked singles victories and two ranked doubles wins while helping the Bulldogs capture the 2026 ITA Team Indoor National Championship.
Dilek put together a standout week for No. 1 Georgia women's tennis, posting a 3-1 record in singles and a perfect 4-0 mark in doubles against top-15 competition. The freshman, ranked No. 23 in singles and No. 26 in doubles, secured three straight singles victories, including wins over opponents from No. 5 LSU, No. 4 Auburn and No. 10 Ohio State, and was highlighted by her comeback clincher against Ohio State's No. 114 Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev in a third-set tiebreak. In doubles, alongside partner Aysegul Mert, Dilek extended her win streak to three matches and earned two ranked victories, including a 6-4 win over No. 4 Melodie Collard and Vivian Yang of Virginia and a 6-4 victory against No. 13 Hephzibah Oluwadare and Teah Chavez of Ohio State. Her outstanding performances helped Georgia capture a back-to-back ITA Team Indoor National Championship this week.
