Stagg, Williams Discuss Bulldogs' Upcoming Preseason Outing

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia basketball players Kareem Stagg and Donovan Williams Jr. talked to local media on Tuesday (Oct. 6) to discuss the Bulldogs' pre-season practices to date and their preseason game against Georgia State on Wednesday.
Stagg is a sophomore from Chesapeake, Va., who blossomed late last season and played a key role in Georgia earning an NCAA Tournament bid. He played in all 33 games, including starting the last nine matchups. After averaging 3.8 points and 10.1 minutes over the first 23 contests, Stagg upped those tallies to 6.9 points and 19.3 minutes during the last 10 outings.
Williams is a freshman from Orlando, Fla., who earned first-team All-State honors twice, securing such status for Class 6A at Edgewater High School in 2024 and in Class 7A for Oak Ridge High School in 2026. He was tabbed as one of the 15 most explosive players in the Class of 2026 by On3.com.
Last season, Georgia won a school-record 22 regular-season games while also shattering several records. Most notably, the Bulldogs ranked No. 5 nationally in scoring offense at 89.4 points per game. That was 6.7 points per game better than their previous high (82.7 ppg during their 1990 SEC Championship season).
