Two Bulldogs Named All-Americans

ATHENS, Ga.-----The first 2026 preseason baseball rankings are out, and the Georgia Bulldogs make their debut at No. 15 in the Perfect Game (PG) Top 25.

The Bulldogs are one of nine Southeastern Conference teams in PG's preseason rankings, joining LSU (1), Tennessee (3), Arkansas (4), Mississippi State (6), Texas (8), Auburn (10), Florida (12) and Vanderbilt (19). This season, the defending national champion Tigers, Volunteers and Gators visit Foley Field while Georgia will battle the Razorbacks, Bulldogs and Tigers on the road. Georgia's other two SEC home series feature South Carolina and Missouri while the other two conference road series will be at Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Georgia, under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson, finished 43-17 in 2025. They were a consensus top 10 team and reached as high as No. 1 during the season. Also, the Bulldogs played host to an NCAA Regional as a national top eight seed for the second consecutive year. The 2026 season begins Feb. 13.

In related baseball news, PG announced its preseason All-America teams, and two new Bulldogs were honored. Graduate first baseman/pitcher Bryce Calloway made the Second Team as a two-way player while junior starting pitcher Joey Volchko landed on the Third Team.

Calloway was a two-way standout for the University of New Orleans last season, batting .390 with 18 home runs and 63 RBI plus went 2-2 with a 4.26 ERA and 11 saves as the Privateers closer. In 2025, Volchko was a member of the Stanford Cardinal rotation as they finished 27-25. He went 3-4 with a 6.01 ERA, tossing a team-high 70.1 innings and registering 56 strikeouts. This marks the second consecutive year he has been named a PG preseason All-American.

Georgia's top returning hitters include junior infielder/outfielder Tre Phelps (.318 BA, 10 HR, 44 RBI), senior shortstop Kolby Branch (.303-13-41) and junior catcher/outfielder Daniel Jackson (.240-14-36, 12 SB). After having 10 players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft including their top five starting pitchers, Georgia bolstered its 2026 team with a portal class ranked among the nation's best by multiple outlets.
