Carnegie Named Back-to-Back SEC Player of the Week
January 27, 2026 | Women's Basketball
ATHENS, Ga. — Dani Carnegie, who has led the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team to an 18-3 overall record and No. 23 national ranking, has once again been tabbed the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Carnegie ranks second in the SEC in scoring during conference play with 22.6 ppg. She posted back-to-back 30-point games last week — the first Georgia player since Katrina McClain in 1987 to score 30 or more points in consecutive contests.
The sophomore guard scored 31 points in Georgia's win at Arkansas, tying a UGA single-game record with seven made 3-pointers. She followed that performance with 19 points and a career-best eight assists to lead Georgia past No. 11-ranked Kentucky.
Carnegie is one of four Georgia players averaging double figures in scoring, leading the team to its best start since the 2017-18 campaign. Last week, the Lady Bulldogs knocked off two top 20 teams within the span of six days for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
Georgia returns to Stegeman Coliseum this Thursday night for a top 25 matchup against No. 24 Alabama. Tip time is set for 6:30 p.m. ET. Tickets are still available on GeorgiaDogs.com.
