Getting To Know Mohamed Adoini
January 27, 2026 | Track & Field
Mohamed Adoini, a sprints/hurdle transfer for the Bulldogs, hails from Bizerte, Tunisia, a "very beautiful" city that's "full of life" on the coast of North East Africa. Adoini ran his sophomore year Division II at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C, before transferring to the University of Georgia to continue his track journey. Most people call him 'Mo' for short.
Here is a Q&A with Mohamed Adoini (pronounced A-dwon-ee)…
Q: Where were you born?
Mohamed: I was born in Tunisia, in a small town called Bizerte. It's the northeast point in Africa, right by the coast. It was beautiful. I try to go back every time I can.
Q: Can you speak any other languages?
Mohamed: I do speak English, French and Arabic. We speak like a slang or like a tone of Arabic. The official language is Arabic, but in high school, you have to kind of study in French.
Q: How did you get into track?
Mohamed: I have an older brother. There are seven years between us. He ran track, too, and he was the reason for me to start track. I used to go once in a while just to hang out and probably practice, but not officially.
Q: Were there any other sports you played other than track?
Mohamed: I used to play soccer. Everybody plays soccer where I'm from.
Q: So what made you choose UGA?
Mohamed: A lot of factors, to be honest with you. Like most of the same aspects when I look at the other schools. There was no kind of team culture, and here everybody was friendly, and everybody was trying to convince me to stay here. My first visit was on a random Tuesday just to see how they actually hang out and live. And I felt it was the closest to home.
Q: What was the biggest culture shock when you came to America?
Mohamed: Greek life. I didn't know anything about Greek life before, and I came here, and everybody is suddenly in a sorority or fraternity.
Q: Who was your top musical artist for 2025?
Mohamed: This might sound very boring. I don't have like a specific type of music I listen to. So it might be sometimes a French artist, and then the next morning I'm feeling Drake.
Q: So you like Drake over Kendrick?
Mohamed: Uh… no, no. No, I just like Drake.
Q: What is your favorite animal?
Mohamed: Dogs and cats. I don't have any pets. If I did, it would be a dog or a cat or both. I would have a golden retriever.
Q: Do you have a favorite clothing brand?
Mohamed: Ralph Lauren.
Q: Do you have a celebrity look-alike?
Mohamed: Yes, I don't know if you know him. He's a soccer player called Hugo Ekitike. He has the same hairstyle as me, with the blonde thing (referring to frosted tips). And you know LaMelo Ball. I don't think I look like him but suddenly every person tells me that.
Q: So if someone asks you for your Instagram, what are you going to say?
Mohammed: "I don't run it" (quoting LaMelo Ball). No, I think it out on Instagram. They can have mine. Mine is very public, and I post a lot of times. More content coming up. Actually, about dressing up, not about track.
Q: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Mohamed: They always like to notice the accent and ask me what else I speak. So they're surprised that I speak other languages. I also know the capitals of most countries. I can name every country on the map. I think most people know that, though. I love flags too. I know all flags basically. I like politics and geography.
Q: What is your coffee order?
Mohammed: Double shots of espresso. Very, very strong. But I'm not addicted, I can go six months with no coffee.
