ATHENS – The No. 1 University of Georgia equestrian team will host its annual Red and Black Scrimmage on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
Georgia lost nine prominent starters from last season but returns talent with numerous accolades. In total, the Bulldogs bring back three riders with NCEA All-America honors and four with All-SEC nods.
The reigning NCEA National Champions posted an overall 9-6 record last season, eight of which were over top-10 teams. Senior Tessa Brown was named an NCEA All-American in Fences and gained an All-SEC nod as well. Sophomore Emma DeJong garnered All-Freshman honors in Horsemanship.
Senior Alyvia Dixon recorded the most wins in Horsemanship, earning All-SEC honors in the discipline and NCEA All-America honorable mention. Reiner Cadence Eger was another Bulldog recognized with All-SEC accolades, her second-straight year receiving honors.
Georgia earned their first win of the 2024-25 season in tie-breaking fashion against second-ranked Texas A&M, starting a six meet win streak. The Bulldogs added wins against Auburn (13-4) and Texas A&M (16-4) before securing the NCEA National Championship with a 12-8 win over SMU.
The Bulldogs launched into the record books with seven different riders sneaking into top-10 lists. Six Fences and two Flat riders etched themselves into Georgia record books, with Jordan Toering entering the top-10 in both events. Madi Nadolenco led all Fences riders with a season-best 95 against Lynchburg. This is tied for the third-best score in program history. Abbey Zawisza carved a place for herself in the top Horsemanship scores with a 77.3, and Cadence Eger rode to a 72.7 to help secure Georgia's national championship title over SMU.
Georgia will begin its 2025-26 season when they host No. 8 Baylor on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
