Zaborowski Named Dick Howser Trophy National Hitter of the Month

ATHENS, GA.-----Georgia's Ryland Zaborowski has been named the Dick Howser Trophy Player of the Month for March, it was announced recently by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
In March, Zaborowski batted .467 (28-for-60) with 22 runs scored, four doubles, 12 home runs and 33 RBI. He added 15 walks, was hit by four pitches and posted a 1.133 slugging percentage and a .595 on-base percentage.
A 6-5, 250-pound native of Gilbert, Ariz., he ranks among the NCAA leaders in batting (.424), home runs (15), slugging percentage (.949) and RBI (51). He has appeared in 31 games with 30 starts at third base, first base or designated hitter for the Bulldogs. Last week, Zaborowski was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List by USA Baseball as well as a Mid-Season All-American by multiple outlets.
Up next, the seventh-ranked Bulldogs (30-5, 8-4 SEC) face top-ranked Arkansas (31-3, 11-1 SEC) here starting Friday night at Foley Field.
Also, Florida State left-hander Joey Volini, who went 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA and two complete games in March, was named the National Pitcher of the Month. This marks the 10th consecutive year that the NCBWA has honored a national hitter and national pitcher of the month. Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball, www.ncbwa.com.
