April 03, 2025 | Baseball
ATHENS, GA.-----Georgia's Ryland Zaborowski has been named to the 2025 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced Thursday.
Zaborowski is one of 45 student-athletes from college and high school baseball on the list for the award, presented by Chinook Seedery, which is given annually to the nation's top amateur player. Georgia's Charlie Condon became the first Bulldog in school history to win the award in 2024 after a record-setting season. Condon helped Georgia go 43-17 and advance to an NCAA Super Regional while leading the nation in five offensive categories. He was the number three overall selection in the MLB amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies.
Earlier this week, Zaborowski, a 6-5, 250-pound native of Gilbert, Ariz, was named a Midseason All-American by D1Baseball.com. An infielder/outfielder, he ranks among the NCAA leaders in batting (.448), home runs (14), slugging percentage (1.011) and RBI (48). He has appeared in 27 games with 26 starts at third base, first base or designated hitter for the third-ranked Bulldogs (29-2, 8-1 SEC).
The Golden Spikes Award Advisory Board will continue maintaining a rolling list of athletes throughout the season, allowing players to play themselves into consideration for the award before the announcement of the semifinalists on May 18. Currently, 11 NCAA conferences are represented on the list with the Southeastern Conference leading with 14 players.
Fan voting will again play a part in the Golden Spikes Award in 2025. Baseball fans can vote for their favorite players on GoldenSpikesAward.com, beginning on May 18 with the naming of the semifinalists. The winner will be announced in late June.
