Alsherif Collects His Second SEC T&F Weekly Honor

April 22, 2025 | Track & Field

ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog senior Moustafa Alsherif has been named the Southeastern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time following the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, according to a league announcement Tuesday.

Two weeks ago, Alsherif (Men's Field Athlete of the Week), freshman Manuela Rotundo (Women's Field Athlete of the Week) and first-year hurdler Michelle Smith (Women's Freshman of the Week) were honored by the league.

Georgia had another round of SEC weekly winners after its opening outdoor weekend.  Senior Lianna Davidson (Women's Field Athlete of the Week), Smith (Women's Freshman of the Week) and first-year sprinter Ervin Pearson, nicknamed "Flash", (Men's Co-Runner of the Week) were awarded honors.

Alsherif, a native of Cairo, Egypt, sent his top effort in the javelin an NCAA leading 80.52 meters/264 feet, 2 inches to win the men's javelin at the Tom jones meet, making him the No. 25 all-time collegiate performer.  This bettered his No. 3 spot in the school record books.

What's Next For The Bulldogs?: Members of Georgia's track and field teams will travel to Auburn, Ala., for the Tiger Track Classic on April 26.
