Key Quotes
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On having depth and the early part of the schedule with already playing 19 games…
"I think it puts a lot of pressure on the other team. We can do some different things when they try to match up with our hitters, and we can do some different things when they try to match up with our pitchers. It's good to see the guys have to persevere with our schedule, it's like 19 games in 20-something days. After that first inning, it is easy to just coast, and I thought we threw the ball well today, minus the one inning.'"
"He's another guy who is going to throw a lot for us. "It'll be really surprising for me if we have a guy go seven, eight innings in a game in league play. We'll do a lot of matching up, and you see what Tyler and Matthew (Hoskins) did today. We know Brian Curley can go multiple innings. Tyler is working himself into a lot of innings with us."
Nolan McCarthy | Gr. | OF
On pre-conference play
"You really figure out who your guys are, and we have a lot of depth, so you have to get a lot of guys in early in the season. Then when SEC play comes around, it's a normal game for us. It's been a lot the past four weeks, but I wouldn't have it any other way."
On the team's depth
"It's awesome because even Ryland Zaborowski was in the eight-hole yesterday, and it doesn't matter wherever you are in the lineup, you can put it out of the ballpark. We don't just have nine good hitters, we have 15,16,17, 18 good hitters. Everyone we could put in can produce at this level. It's just really impressive."
