TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 15th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs fell to Alabama on Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, 5-4. Tyler Ellison knocked a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to cut the Tide lead to one, but the comeback fell short as Alabama evened the weekend series.

Georgia is now 25-9 on the season and 4-7 in SEC play.

FAST FACTS
  • The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide donned teal uniforms and accents on Saturday as part of the All for Alex and Geaux Teal initiatives to raise awareness to recognize the symptoms of ovarian cancer. More information about All for Alex and Gueax Teal is below.
  • Ellison's seventh-inning home run was her sixth of the season, moving into a three-way tie for the most on the team. The homer sliced the Alabama lead to one late in the contest.
  • Randi Roelling suffered the loss in the circle. She worked four and two-thirds innings in her start, allowing four runs on a pair of two-run home runs. She struck out one and walked three.
  • Rachel Gibson worked one and a third innings out of the pen, allowing an unearned run on no hits.
  • Georgia out-hit Alabama 7-4. Seven different Bulldogs combined for the seven hits.
  • The Bulldogs' comeback bid started with back-to-back hits from Mua Williams and Paislie Allen. After Ellison's one-out homer, Jaydyn Godwin singled through the right side to put the tying run aboard. The final out was a close play at first to end the contest.

UP NEXT
The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will decide the series on Sunday live on ESPN2. First pitch is set for noon ET live from Tuscaloosa.

ALL FOR ALEX WEEKEND
The 15 SEC schools join together to wear teal or teal accents on Saturday, March 29 as the entire league recognizes Alex Wilcox's impact on the softball community nationwide and in the fight against ovarian cancer.

This is the fifth year of the campaign (2021-25). The campaign is a joint effort of LSU head coach Beth Torina and Mississippi State head coach Samantha Ricketts and was approved at the SEC coaches' meetings in the fall of 2019.

Wilcox was a member of the 2018 Mississippi State softball team who inspired the nation with her courageous fight against ovarian cancer. That fight ultimately took her life in the summer of 2018.
