Key Quotes
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On Robbie Burnett's home run and his at-bats
"Robbie works really, really hard on his game and takes thousands of swings. He had told me the same thing yesterday, he's like, Skip, I just pulled just a tick off on that one. I go, hey, just stay back to the middle of the field. And when that ball left, I mean, that thing was high, and he hammered it. I mean, that ball was hit hard, but that's what he can do when he stays in the middle of the field."
On Matthew Hoskins today and his pitches
"My gosh, I mean, well, really his changeup. I mean, we can talk about it a lot. I mean, through a lot of strikes, the change-up was real today. Like, we put work in on that thing and the change up was there, and then being able to throw that cutter there, that first time he came in to strikeout that guy, that was a nasty pitch, man. And then just pounding the strike zone, controlling the running game. All those things look really, really good for Matthew."
Robbie Burnett, 2B
On the team's offensive confidence
"We know we're a good offense. We know that one through nine, one through 15, 16, however many guys, our whole offense is dogs. That's just what we kind of try to bring to the table every day is just nine dogs, whoever's in the lineup. And even if somebody comes off the bench, they're a dog too. So we're just trying to get rolling and getting some good swings off now. So it's gonna be exciting."
Matthew Hoskins, RHP
On when the last time he's felt as good on the mound and his confidence in his pitches
"I felt pretty good for the last couple of months. But that was one of the better outings I've had. The cutter, I mean, that's been my bread and butter for the last two or three years, even before I had surgery. I just try and work on the changeup every day, try and work on the slider, try and work on the cutter, fastball, just try and work on everything all the time."
