Bulldogs Debut At No. 8 In D1Baseball Preseason Poll

ATHENS, GA-----The Georgia Bulldogs check in at No. 8 in the preseason D1Baseball.com Top 25 rankings, the website announced Monday.
Georgia's Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson enters his second year with most of the rotation returning from a year ago in Charlie Goldstein (4-1, 3.72 ERA), Kolten Smith (9-3, 5.56 ERA), Leighton Finley (6-1, 4.14 ERA) and Zach Harris (5-2, 6.87 ERA). The starting lineup welcomes back Tre Phelps (.353-12-40), Slate Alford (.300-17-69) and Kolby Branch (.267-17-58), and a newcomer class that has been ranked as high as No. 7 (Baseball America).
The Bulldogs were one of six Southeastern Conference teams in the D1Baseball.com top 10 that included Texas A&M (1), LSU (3), Tennessee (4), Arkansas (5) and Florida (10). In 2025, the Bulldogs will play host to the Razorbacks in April and close out the regular season against the Aggies here in May.
Georgia's best 2025 preseason ranking to date has been No. 4 by Perfect Game. The Bulldogs are coming off their finest season since 2008, finishing in the top 10 with a 43-17 record and an appearance in an NCAA Super Regional.
The 2025 season opens on Valentine's Day, and the Bulldogs will be on the road at UNC Wilmington. Georgia's home opener is slated for Feb. 20 as part of a four-game series with University of Illinois Chicago.
