September 02, 2024 | Football
ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog quarterback Carson Beck and place-kicker Peyton Woodring have earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors following Georgia's win over No. 14 Clemson, according to a league announcement Monday.
Â
Beck, a junior from Jacksonville, Fla., was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week alongside Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia while Woodring, a native of Lafayette, La., shared Special Teams Player of the Week accolades with Oklahoma PK Tyler Keltner.
Â
Beck connected on 23 of 33 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns during the Bulldogs' 34-3 win.  He hit nine different targets, including three newcomers, and had eight completions and two touchdowns during limited time in the fourth quarter.  Beck added a 13-yard run to help the Bulldogs pile up 447 total yards and have no turnovers.
Â
Woodring tallied 10 points, opening the scoring with a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter.  He returned to drill a career-long 55 yarder to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 edge headed into halftime.  This marked the longest field goal for Georgia since All-American Rodrigo Blankenship connected on a 55 yarder versus Oklahoma in the 2018 Rose Bowl.  Woodring also handled kickoffs for Georgia.Â
Â
Georgia plays host to Tennessee Tech (0-1, 0-0 OVC) in Athens on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium on Saturday.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the SEC Network+/ESPN+ will stream the matchup.
