Georgia’s 2025 SEC Baseball Schedule Announced

September 12, 2024 | Baseball

ATHENS, Ga.-----The Georgia Bulldogs will open the Southeastern Conference portion of their 2025 baseball schedule with Kentucky at Foley Field, according to announcement by the SEC office Thursday as they released league slates for all 16 schools.

The Bulldogs will begin their 30-game conference schedule March 14-16 in Athens against the Wildcats. Georgia's other four SEC home series will be against Auburn (March 28-30), Arkansas (Apr. 11-13), Oklahoma (Apr. 25-27), and it will close out the regular season with Texas A&M (May 15-17).

The five SEC road series will be against Florida (March 21-23), Texas (Apr. 4-6), Vanderbilt (Apr. 17-19) Missouri (May 2-4) and Alabama (May 9-11). Please note Georgia's road series with the Commodores and the home series finale with Texas A&M already are slated to be Thursday-Saturday. The 2025 SEC schedule is subject to change for television, including the move of some conference series to begin on Thursdays.

Beginning in 2025, SEC baseball teams will play a three-game series against two permanent opponents and eight rotating opponents for a total of 30 conference games on an annual basis. Standings will be kept in a single-division format. Georgia's permanent opponents are Auburn and Florida. The league determined permanent opponents on several factors including geography, traditional opponents and strength of schedule.

Georgia will begin fall practice Sept. 20 under the direction of Ike Cousins head baseball coach Wes Johnson who enters his second season. The Bulldogs were among a record 11 SEC teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2023 including five national seeds. As a No. 7 national seed, Georgia won its regional in Athens and fell a game short of advancing to the College World Series that featured an All-SEC final. Due to scheduling constraints associated with Georgia's baseball stadium renovations, the Bulldogs will not play any exhibition games this fall.

Georgia's regular season non-conference schedule will be announced later this year. Ticket information will be available in January. Follow this link for information on supporting baseball student-athletes through the Georgia Baseball Fund (GBF). The 2025 college baseball season begins Feb. 14.

The SEC Tournament returns to Hoover, Ala., and will be held May 20-25. It will be the first SEC Tournament to include every league team in a single-elimination format. SEC Tournament tickets will go on sale in March at SECsports.com. NCAA Regional action will be May 30-June 2 with Super Regionals slated for June 6-9, both played at various campus sites. The College World Series (CWS) will be conducted June 13-23 in Omaha, Neb. The SEC has claimed five consecutive baseball national championship by five different programs since 2019.

Georgia's top returning hitters include sophomore Tre Phelps (.353 BA, 12 HR, 40 RBI), senior Slate Alford (.300 BA, 17 HR, 69 RBI) and junior Kolby Branch (.267 BA, 17 HR, 58 RBI). The Bulldogs return four veteran starters in junior Kolten Smith (9-3, 5.66 ERA), junior Leighton Finley (6-1, 4.14 ERA), graduate Charlie Goldstein (4-1, 3.72 ERA) and junior Zach Harris (5-2, 6.87 ERA) plus graduate Brian Zeldin (3-3, 5.66 ERA) who led the team with 23 relief appearances and six saves. Georgia bolstered its 2025 team with an array of newcomers including pitchers Alton Davis II (Alabama), Brian Curley (VCU) and Zach Brown (Ohio State) along with infielder/outfielder Christian Adams (FAU), catcher Daniel Jackson (Wofford), infielder Ryan Black (UT Arlington), outfielder Nolan McCarthy (Kentucky) and infielder/outfielder Ryland Zaborowski (Miami, Ohio). Georgia's freshman class features infielder Erik Parker who opted to attend Georgia after being a 15th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers this past July.
