Week 1 Recap

ATHENS, Ga. – A total of more than 40 former Bulldogs took part in NFL games over the weekend, including one contest that featured nine defenders who wore the Georgia G not too long ago.
 
Quay Walker and Javon Bullard led the Green Bay defense in week one with 11 total tackles each, while Travon Walker (Jacksonville) picked up where he left off in 2023 with a two-sack performance against Miami. In addition to the defensive dominance displayed by former Bulldogs, quarterback Matthew Stafford (L.A. Rams) continued to move up the opening weekend record books with his 317-yard passing performance against Detroit. 
 
Chiefs 27, Ravens 20
Malik Herring, DE – Played 11 snaps on defense for Kansas City, recording no stats in the win.
Mecole Hardman Jr., WR – Saw action exclusively on special teams for the Chiefs as a returner, returning one kickoff for 29 yards.
Roquan Smith, LB – Started at linebacker for the Ravens leading the team in tackles with seven. Smith also reeled in his 10th career interception in the loss.
Ben Cleveland, OG – Appeared exclusively on special teams for Baltimore, playing five snaps on special teams.
Nick Moore, LS – Saw action on seven special teams plays for the Ravens in the loss.
 
Eagles 34, Packers 29
Nolan Smith Jr., OLB – Saw action on 41 snaps for Philadelphia between defense and special teams, recording two tackles.
Jordan Davis, DT – Appeared on 47 snaps for the Eagles between defense and special teams, recording no statistics in the win.
Kelee Ringo, CB – Saw action primarily on special teams for Philadelphia, recording no statistics.
Jalen Carter, DT – Appeared on 76 percent of defensive snaps for the Eagles, recording two tackles and one quarterback hit.
Nakobe Dean, ILB – Started at linebacker for Philadelphia, totaling four tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defended.
Quay Walker, ILB – Started at linebacker for Green Bay, leading the Packers in tackles with 11 along with one tackle for loss.
Javon Bullard, S – Started at safety for the Packers, tying Walker for the team lead in tackles with 11.
Eric Stokes, CB – Started at cornerback for Green Bay, registering two tackles in the loss.
Devonte Wyatt, DT – Saw action on 36 defensive snaps for the Packers, racking up one tackle, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery.
 
Bills 34, Cardinals 28
James Cook, RB – Started at running back for Buffalo, racking up 71 yards on 19 carries to go with 32 yards on three catches in the win.
Sedrick Van Pran Granger, OC – Was listed as inactive in the Bills' week one win (coach's decision).
 
Steelers 18, Falcons 10
George Pickens, WR – Started at wide receiver for the Steelers, catching six passes for 85 yards on seven targets in the win.
Darnell Washington, TE – Saw action on offense and special teams for Pittsburgh, catching one pass for five yards.
Broderick Jones, OT – Started at tackle for the Steelers, playing 100 percent of offensive snaps as Pittsburgh gained 270 total yards.
Lorenzo Carter, OLB – Played over 50 percent of defensive snaps for the Falcons, racking up five total tackles in the loss.
Charlie Woerner, TE – Appeared on 23 offensive snaps for Atlanta, catching one pass for four yards.
 
Bears 24, Titans 17
D'Andre Swift, RB – Started at running back for Chicago, recording 10 rushes for 30 yards in the win.
 
Patriots 16, Bengals 10
Amarius Mims, OT – Was ruled out for the Bengals due to a pectoral injury.
David Andrews, C – Started at center for New England as the Patriots gained 290 total yards and 170 yards on the ground.
 
Texans 29, Colts 27
Kamari Lassiter, CB – Started at cornerback for Houston in his NFL debut, recording two tackles and one pass defended in the win.
 
Dolphins 20, Jaguars 17
Travon Walker, DE – Started at defensive end for Jacksonville, recording six tackles, two sacks and two quarterback hits in the loss.
Tyson Campbell, CB – Started at cornerback for the Jaguars, racking up two tackles and one tackle for loss.
Channing Tindall, ILB – Was listed as inactive by Miami due to a coach's decision.
 
Vikings 28, Giants 6
Andrew Thomas, OT – Started at offensive tackle for New York, playing 100 percent of offensive snaps in the loss.
Azeez Ojulari, OLB – Saw action on 34 snaps between defense and special teams for the Giants, recording one tackle.
 
Chargers 22, Raiders 10
Ladd McConkey, WR – Started at wide receiver for Los Angeles, catching five passes for 39 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. McConkey also led the Chargers in targets.
Jamaree Salyer, OT/OG – Dressed for the Chargers on Sunday but saw no action in the win.
Zamir White, RB – Started at running back for Las Vegas, carrying the ball 13 times for 44 yards while catching two passes for two yards in the loss.
Brock Bowers, TE – Started at tight end for the Raiders, catching six of his eight targets for 58 yards. Bowers also led Las Vegas in targets in his debut.
Chris Smith II, S – Played exclusively on special teams for the Raiders, recording no statistics.
John Jenkins, DT – Saw action on 60 percent of defensive snaps for Las Vegas, recording five tackles.
 
Seahawks 26, Broncos 20
Kenny McIntosh, RB – Dressed for Seattle on Sunday but did not appear in the game.
 
Buccaneers 37, Commanders 20
Jake Camarda, P – Punted one time for 38 yards for Tampa Bay in the win.
Tykee Smith, S – Saw action on nearly 70 percent of defensive snaps for the Buccaneers, totaling two tackles.
 
Lions 26, Rams 20
Matthew Stafford, QB – Started at quarterback for Los Angeles, completing 34 of his 49 passes for 317 yards and one touchdown. With his 317 yards on Sunday night, Stafford has passed Matt Ryan for the fourth-most passing yards in season opening games in NFL history. In addition to surpassing Ryan in that category, Stafford surpassed Ryan for the second-most season opening games in which a quarterback has thrown for at least 300 yards with nine.
Warren McClendon, OT – Started at tackle for the Rams, playing 100 percent of snaps as Los Angeles gained 387 yards on offense. 
Stetson Bennett IV, QB – Served as backup quarterback for the Rams in the loss.
 
49ers 32, Jets 19
Leonard Floyd, OLB – Started at defensive end for the 49ers, recording two tackles and a sack in the win.
Robert Beal Jr., OLB – Played six snaps on defense for San Francisco, registering two tackles in the win.
