Caldwell Inks With WNBA’s Atlanta Dream

June 27, 2024 | Women's Basketball

ATHENS, Ga. — Former Georgia women's basketball star Maya Caldwell has signed with the Atlanta Dream, the organization announced earlier this week.

Caldwell played for the Lady Bulldogs from 2018-21 and earned Southeastern All-Tournament honors after leading Georgia to the SEC tournament title game. The Charlotte, N.C., native played in 122 games and averaged 6.9 points per contest during her time in the red and black.

The Indiana Fever drafted Caldwell with the 33rd overall pick in the third round in the 2021 WNBA Draft. In 2022, Caldwell signed with the Dream and had a breakout season with 10.9 points and 2.2 assists per contest. Last year, she played 30 games for the Fever.

Caldwell is one of 24 Georgia players to be drafted dating back to 1997. That number is tied for fourth-most among all college women's basketball programs.
