ANAHEIM, Calif. – University of Georgia volleyball student-athlete Sophie Fischer has received an invite to the USA Volleyball Spring Training Camp, USA Volleyball announced Friday afternoon.
Fischer is one of 17 top college volleyball student-athletes who will join U.S. Women's National Team head coach Karch Kiraly and his staff, along with Olympic gold medalists Jordan Larson and Jordyn Poulter at the USA Volleyball Spring Training Camp on March 10-16 at the Open Gym Premier facility in Anaheim, California.
"We are so incredibly proud of Sophie to be named to this select USA training group, not only for the recognition she's earned but especially for the path she's taking to earn it." Georgia head coach Tom Black said. "Sophie has done it the right way every day. This is a significant step for her, but more to come. We are incredibly excited for her."
A fifth-year middle blocker from Fort Mill, South Carolina, Fischer is the reigning SEC Player of the Year after guiding the Bulldogs to a second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2023. Fischer became the fifth Bulldog in program history to garner AVCA All-America status last season.
The group's week of training will culminate in a Red-Blue scrimmage at 9:30 a.m. PT on Saturday, March 16, at the gym in Anaheim. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
