Bulldogs Fall to Gamecocks, 4-3

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 34 Georgia men's tennis team fell to the No. 20 South Carolina Gamecocks, 4-3, in a three-hour, 33-minute contest on Friday evening at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The Bulldogs (10-10, 3-5 SEC) took the doubles point for the fifth-straight match but were unable to take the three singles matches they needed to clinch the win.
In doubles, Ryan Colby and Thomas Paulsell set up the win with a victory on court two, 6-4. Cyrus Mahjoob and Miguel Perez Peña defeated Sean Daryabeigi and Jelani Sarr, 7-6(5), in a match that lasted 52 minutes for their fourth clinch together.
Freddy Blaydes defeated Carter Morgan by a 6-3, 7-5 score on court six to tie the match after the Gamecocks (11-9, 4-4 SEC) took the win on courts three and two. No. 61 Paulsell took No. 21 Toby Samuel into a third set, ultimately falling on court one and giving South Carolina match point.
No. 81 Perez Peña managed to tie the match with a three-set win on court four, marking his 22nd singles win of the year, good for most on the team. The Gamecocks then clinched the match with a narrow win on court five.
Georgia will host its final regular season home match on Sunday, March 31 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Georgia has played Florida more than any other team in program history, with first serve for the 98th meeting set for 1 p.m. ET.
