Bulldogs Fall to 12th-Ranked Aggies, 5-2

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 38 Georgia men's tennis team fell to No. 12 Texas A&M, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
Despite winning the doubles point, the Bulldogs (7-9, 1-4 SEC) were unable to get the three wins they needed in singles play, with the Aggies (16-4, 5-1 SEC) taking courts one through five.
On court one, Freddy Blaydes and Niels Ratiu defeated No. 58 Guilio Perego and Togan Tokac, 6-3, marking their seventh win of the season and first over a ranked opponent. Ryan Colby and Thomas Paulsell clinched the doubles point for Georgia with a 6-4 win over Luke Casper and JC Roddick on court two.
In the singles competition, Georgia's Filipe Costa won his first SEC match of his career, taking the match by a 7-5, 6-1 score on court six over Luke Casper. The Aggies fought back to take a 3-2 lead over the Bulldogs as Cyrus Mahjoob and Ratiu both moved to third sets. On court five, the Aggies' Tiago Pires prevailed over Mahjoob 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-2, clinching the match for Texas A&M. The teams played out the remaining match on court three, where Ratiu fell in three sets to No. 118 Tokac.
The Bulldogs will return to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex for their match against LSU on Friday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m.
