Caitlin Lyons Named Peach Of An Athlete Honoree

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia equestrian team fifth-year senior Caitlin Lyons has been named an honoree for the Peach of an Athlete award by the Atlanta Area Council of Boy Scouts of America.
Lyons is among 10 honorees that will be recognized at the 40th Annual Peach of an Athlete Role Model Banquet on March 25 at Truist Park. Each year, the Atlanta Area Council and Boy Scouts of America honor student-athletes from the state of Georgia or a college or university in Georgia, who have distinguished themselves by their character, scholastic achievement, academic excellence and community service – characteristics taught every day in the Scouting program. The Scouting organization takes great pride in recognizing those who serve as good "Role Models for Youth."
A native of Mead, Washington, Lyons has been noticed throughout her Bulldog riding career as the 2021-22 SEC Reining Rider of the Year and earned All-SEC Honors. She was named to the NCEA All-America Second Team and continues to be a staple in the Bulldogs' Reining lineup. She has won 20 rides and three Most Outstanding Performer honors with a career-high score of 74.5.
She boasts a 3.95 grade point average and majors in Ecology, earning numerous academic honors including three NCEA All-Academic First Team nods and three UGA Athletics Presidential Scholar recognitions in addition to being named to the honor roll every semester. She was also UGA's recipient of the Ramsey Scholarship for Academic and Athletic Excellence.
Lyons is dedicated to community service. She is a member of the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was inducted into the Leadership Academy as well. She has volunteered at Butterfly Dreams Farm, Athens-Clarke County Animal Shelter, and the Foodbank of Northeast Georgia, among others.
